A running list of ridiculously good finds that have caught my eye lately.
Price stopped being a reliable proxy for ideas somewhere around the time ESTHÉ worked out how to make organza hold a perfect globe of a sleeve on pleat memory alone: no wire, no boning, no hidden cage. This is a running list of what keeps catching us at the accessible end of the market, and nearly all of it rests on one technical decision rather than a trend. Fabrique burns floral voids straight through the outer leg of a wide denim, backing the cutwork in sheer mesh so the blooms read as holes instead of print. Celia B runs seven faux leather panels hip to floor and lets the seams carry the pattern, with gore inserts making the flare structural rather than gathered. The Bunnies Store sprays a grey-into-charcoal gradient across a blazer and uses it the way a tailor would use a dart. Staud sets its cables on the diagonal, which is why the asymmetric hem looks like a consequence and not a gimmick. Then: JW Pei's sculpted tulip, Tame New York's snake-chain tassels, Damson Madder's removable belt-bag waistband, Reformation's crimson satin shorts. The Zara wrap skirt is the most frankly commercial thing in here, though its frog closure is doing more than the print is. Ideas are usually the expensive part. Not this time.
