Genderless dresses and draped separates built on seamless construction, where Ghanaian heritage meets LA's body-conscious edge.
Think: draped precision meets Accra
The buy: the draped cutout dress
the draped cutout dress
Kwame Adusei drapes and cuts clothes around the body, so a dress or a pair of jeans fits as if it were patterned just for you.
Nana Kwame Adusei is a patternmaker first, and it shows. Seams are hidden or dropped altogether so fabric wraps the body without a break, and the baggy denim curves on darts instead of side seams. The dresses take their twist from the way Kente cloth is draped, with open backs, high slits and sculpted shoulders, and every piece is cut to suit a wide range of bodies, whatever the gender.
Nothing from Kwame Adusei is on the site at the moment. We watch their sales — when one lands it shows up in Drops.
Nana Kwame Adusei grew up in Accra and spent more than a decade making custom and ready-to-wear clothes for women in Ghana, under an earlier label of his own, before moving to the US.
He founded his namesake label in Los Angeles in 2021, starting from a small downtown atelier. It set out to make practical, comfortable, sexy clothes that honor West Africa's way of dressing, which traditionally never split garments into men's and women's.
From reviews and try-on videos, in our words.
Sizes run XS to XL, and some tailoring comes in one unisex size. Trousers and denim fit oversized, so the brand suggests sizing down; many dresses are stretch. Each page lists the model's height, measurements and size.
Most pieces are dry clean only or dry clean recommended; the cotton tees can go in a cold wash and hang to dry.
US shipping is free. Orders take about 7 days to prepare, then 5 to 7 days in transit, and every delivery needs a signature. International orders ship by USPS at rates shown at checkout.
There are no refunds. Unworn, tagged full-price pieces can come back within 14 days for store credit or an exchange, sale pieces are final, and US buyers pay the return label unless they bought the return add-on at checkout.
