The buy: the feather-trimmed kaftan
the feather-trimmed kaftan
Taller Marmo turns the kaftan into evening wear: fluid, feather-trimmed and made in Italy, with all the drama and none of the stiffness.
The kaftan is the label's emblem, cut loose in fluid crepe cady, satin or lurex jacquard so it moves rather than clings. Ostrich feathers at the sleeves and fringe at the hem bring the drama, and the column dresses and gowns follow the same easy line. It is all made in family-owned factories near Milan, with jacquards from a silk mill in Como.
Nothing from Taller Marmo is on the site at the moment. We watch their sales — when one lands it shows up in Drops.
Riccardo Audisio and Yago Goicoechea met as students at Istituto Marangoni in Milan, left before graduating and moved to Dubai, where they launched Taller Marmo in 2013, both aged 19.
They began with fluid kaftans drawn from 1960s and 1970s jet-set dressing. The name pairs the Spanish word for laboratory with the Italian for marble, and the label later moved its base to Milan.
From reviews and try-on videos, in our words.
Many kaftans are one size, designed to fit Italian sizes 36 to 48 (about US 0 to 12) with a relaxed cut. Sized dresses run IT 36 to 48 and are marked true to size, and each product page lists its own measurements.
Most dresses and kaftans are crepe cady in acetate and viscose, a fluid fabric that drapes, and the feather trims are real ostrich. Everything is professional dry clean only, and steaming takes out creases.
US orders ship express by DHL for $50, or free over $900, with duties and taxes built into the price, so nothing is due on delivery. Hawaii and Alaska cost $120.
You have 14 days from delivery to return for a refund, unworn with tags attached, and US returns cost $50. Custom-made atelier pieces are final sale.
