About Aurate
Sophie Kahn and Bouchra Ezzahraoui, friends since grad school, founded Aurate in New York in 2015 after failing to find fine jewelry that was modern, fairly priced and responsibly made.
Kahn, who grew up in the Netherlands, designs the pieces; Ezzahraoui, from Morocco, brought a finance background. Together they built the brand around recycled gold and selling direct, so customers pay for the metal rather than the markup.
