Why Monse is worth it
Monse takes the menswear shirt and suit apart and puts them back together off-center, so classic tailoring comes out sharp and a little unruly.
The shirt is the starting point: exposed seams, cascading fronts, knotted sleeves and spliced stripes give a plain button-down real tension. Tailoring gets the same treatment, with deconstructed lapels in wool and cashmere, and the dresses borrow the shirt's details in cotton, silk and fluid jersey. Much of it is made in the US.

About Monse
Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia met in the design studio at Oscar de la Renta and left in 2015 to start Monse in New York. Their debut show that September was built around one piece: the shirt.
Monse came to stand for menswear taken apart and rebuilt asymmetrically, with masculine tailoring and feminine cuts in the same look. In 2017 the pair won a CFDA award for emerging talent.
