Think: sculptural bags, Guatemalan beadwork

the beaded top-handle bag
Sac de Soul makes sculptural bags woven bead by bead by women artisans in Guatemala, in bold prints with a snake-shaped handle you spot across a room.
Each bag is built from tens of thousands of Czech glass seed beads, woven by hand into a structured square that holds its shape and finished with a three-dimensional beaded handle shaped like a serpent. The patterns run to leopard, zebra and clashing graphics in strong color, so even the small size does the work of a statement piece.
Sisters Nina and Camila founded Sac de Soul in Guatemala in 2022, after building a bond with a community of women bead artisans around Lake Atitlán, where glass beadwork is a signature craft.
They set out to give that ancestral technique contemporary shapes. Every bag passes through three artisans' hands before it is finished, which is why so many are made to order.
From reviews and try-on videos, in our words.
The square bags come big, 23 cm (about 9 inches) a side, or small, 18.5 cm (about 7 inches), and both carry a 30 cm beaded handle.
Beadwork holds its shape but isn't built for heavy loads: the brand says not to overload the bag or leave it hanging for long, and to keep it in its dust bag between wears.
Many colorways of the Serpent and other styles are made to order, since one bag takes days of handwork; a few are marked ready to ship. Made-to-order and sale pieces can't be returned.
Ships to the US from Guatemala with prices in US dollars, but import duties aren't included and are yours to pay; leave them unpaid and there's no refund. Other returns are accepted within 10 days, with a prepaid label.
Sac de Soul doesn't list fiber content, like “100% silk”, on most of its product pages, so we can't say what its pieces are made of. We checked 52 pieces in October 2026.
