About My Beachy Side
Gamze Ates founded My Beachy Side in 2015 after a long corporate career in the US, setting out to turn the crochet traditions of her native Turkey into steady paid work for women with few job options.
Its makers, many in Istanbul and in Diyarbakir in the southeast, set their own wages, and much of the cloth comes from Buldan, a town with centuries of weaving behind it. Its crochet dresses later reached a wide audience on a hit TV resort drama.
