Celia Bernardo, who grew up in Asturias in northern Spain, founded Celia B in Shanghai in 2012. She had studied in Madrid and Milan, made jewelry in Ibiza and spent about a decade designing for other fashion companies before going out on her own.
The label later settled in Oviedo, her home city, and became known for loud color, layered prints and handcrafted details, a deliberate answer to the minimalism around it.
